The Town of Elkton provides several residential collection services to it's residents every week. These collection services include: brush, grass, leaves, newspapers, solid waste, and household recyclable. We ask all residents to place their collectable items out the night before their designated pick-up day.
Be Advised, the Town does not pick-up building materials (i.e.: fencing,drywall) or dirt piles.

The Town of Elkton encourages all of its residents to help our recycling efforts by taking advantage of our free recyclable collection services provided every Wednesday.
Newspapers must be bundled and secured, not to exceed 20 Lbs, or placed in brown paper bags, and placed curbside.

The following areas are scheduled for trash collection on the days indicated. Major subdivisions are listed in many instances, rather than individual roads. If you don’t see your road listed, please call the Department of Public Works for additional information.

Severe Weather & Emergency Conditions
In the event that he Town must suspend routine trash collection due to sever weather or other emergency conditions, trash will be collected as soon as possible following the severe weather or other emergency event. Contact the Department of Public Works at 410-392-6636 M – F 7:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., or the Elkton Police Department at 410-398-4200 after business hours, for information during severe weather or other emergency conditions.

Garbage Collection and Disposal
Definitions
Bulk Trash means appliances, furniture, bicycles, large toys, tree limbs, bagged yard waste and other large items which, due to their size or nature, are not suitable to be disposed of in trash containers.
Contracted services means any for-profit enterprise that provides any improved or unimproved property or business with construction, maintenance, landscaping, repairs or replacement services.
Litter means any rubbish, paper, trash, garbage, loose debris or any waste container overflow that randomly appears on a property or within the town right of way; or any other matter defined as litter.
Waste Containers
1. Approved waste containers required
Proper waste containers, i.e., trashcans made of aluminum, steel or plastic material, and equipped with lids, should be used to present trash for pick-up
2. Adequate containers required
Each residential property owner or tenant shall have sufficient container capacity to contain all domestic trash. In the event that the Public Works Department determines there is not sufficient container capacity, property owners or tenants will be required to obtain additional containers.
3. Containers and sites to be maintained
Trash container(s) shall be properly maintained, as well as areas where trash is presented for pick-up
The Town of Elkton accepts specified recyclable materials from town residents at the Department of Public Works, 209 Blue Ball Avenue, Elkton. Residents may bring in glass bottles (clear & colored), plastic bottles (recycling logo w/numbers 1, 2 & 3), aluminum beverage cans, newspapers (without shiny, color inserts) and used motor oil. The recycling trailer is located adjacent to the Department of Public Works and the American Red Cross buildings. (Follow signs for exact location).
The Town also has a moblie recycling trailers that are set in various locations throughout the town.
